Exploring Glasgow: Lucy Allan's Guide to the Best Eats, Drinks, and Sights

How long have you lived in Glasgow and were you born and raised there?

Born & raised in Glasgow, so 32 years.

If you were a visitor to your home city where would you stay for the weekend?

Blythswood Square, It’s a beautiful hotel with lots of rich history and the perfect location in a quiet area that’s walking distance to the city centre and easy access to the West End. Fun Fact, they filmed for Succession season 2 in the restaurant.

Favourite place in Glasgow for Coffee / Brunch

I mostly stick to the West End - places like Cottonrake, Kember & Jones and if you like Matcha GodShot Studio in the Southside is great. In the city centre Wilson Street Pantry & for great vegan options Plant Blonde is a must.

Glasgow is a city rich in history & culture, what is a must see?

  • Kelvingrove Art Gallery or my personal favourite The Burrell Collection. They currently have an incredible Degas Exhibit on running until September.

Best place to go shopping for independent brands?

  • I’d say a toss up between the Southside & West End - just depending on what you are looking for. For vintage, West End for sure.

Describe your perfect day spent in Glasgow

  • My perfect day would probably be a morning wandering around The Burrell Collection, grabbing a coffee or matcha from the Southside afterwards. Then heading to the West End for a wander around the shops & Botanics and ending at Crabshakk for dinner.
